I was thinking… Oh no, more thoughts about the NFT shit?

2022-01-20

So.. toying around with an idea that enables NFTs, but without using NFTs.

Don't know if this idea will work.. but, yeah, probably not.. but here goes!

1 - I draw a bunch of ninjas (lets say 50), and put them up for sale in our teespring.com store (damn, uploading 50.. manually.. urgh!).
2a - When you buy it, you'll get the JPG, PNG, Pixel-art version and some kind of certificate. But you also get the JSON-file with all the traits, so that if you want to mint it, you can do that.
Or..
2b - When you buy it, you'll get the JPG, PNG and Pixel-art version.. but if you want, I'll mint it for you and send it to you on.. let's say openSea.

The "Challenge" with 2a would be that since you're minting it on your own, the stats means nothing in terms of traits/uniqueness.. and the traits/uniqueness is a cool thing with these drawing I'd say.

2b seems better in that sense, since I'd put it I an official Little Gamers Cute Ninja Clan collection, and the more people who wants them as NFTs, the more the stats will be unique etc.

SpringTee takes 25% of the money for digital sales.. but that's OK with me :)

Anyways!
Stupid idea? Good idea?
You have a better idea?
Suggestions?

.. also, shit, forgot to ask, anyone even interested in having their own ninja? :D
Haha.. maybe should have started with that?! :D

Why not just print, number and sign the ninja when someone buys and then they own the only signed physical version of that ninja? Quality printing and shipping means it will cost more… but the buyer gets a unique physical thing and they can keep secret or share the high resolution digital version if they want.

By Mr.Madsen

@Beggs - Oh, so even more aspects to it? Sounds like a good idea. But with downloading of the image too. So you get JPG, PNG and a physical version, numbered.. or, it's 1/1, but it's 1/50 different.. wonder how to convey that correctly :D

By Markus

Please don't feed the fire. I would say numbered and signed print in combination with the PNG would be awesome. But please no NFT crap in any form.

By Mr.Madsen

@Markus - Thank you for your input :)

By shevek

@Beggs's idea is a good one, i'd pay for a signed unique numbered print + digital

And, as I have said before, and in agreement with @Markus, JUST SAY NO TO NFT :)

How about
2c. When you buy it, you'll get the JPG, PNG, Pixel-art version and some kind of certificate and a tshirt with the ninja on it.

2d. When you buy it, you'll get the JPG, PNG, Pixel-art version and some kind of certificate and a 30x40 print of it printed on some nice paper.

I second Beggs' idea. A postcard size print should be doable and you can ship it yourself with little overhead. Aaaaaand you can put a QR code on the backside leading to a looooong (impossible to guess) URL where the buyer can download the digital copy.

Maybe that could be done with buy-me-a-coffee or PayPal, so more money for you. It's even easier if people don't get to select their ninja but it's randomly assigned :D

By Rob

I like 2b.
You get an 'actual' item, and if you don't want the NFT just ignore it.

By tante

I like your thinking. But why have the NFT thing? The only point would be to have this tradeable as speculative assets. Do as you described and have a special landing page on your site for every Ninja. When bought the (chosen) name of the owner gets added to the page. So people can link to little-gamers.com/fancyassNinjas/17/ and it says "This one's tante's". Proof of ownership just as good as any blockchain with no eco impact. (and when people link it you also get potentially new people to your site/comic)

I like Beggs' idea.
Still no answer about the question of getting killed in my sleep by the ninja (or any ninja actually) in case of non-NFT. It worries me a bit. Seems important info.

By Qls

Wife acceptance of a ninja print would be definitely be low, however, I would think about getting a unique digital asset for all my torrent forums :D I'd go with 2b.

By Mr.Madsen

So many good ideas!!
Thank you everyone!

So, you buy a random ninja (You don't know which), you get a link to a page showing the world that you own it with name and stuff + downloadable assets + Stats + how common those stats are. Could even do a page where all ninjas are listed, and ticked off when bought so you can see what's left. You also get a IRL version sent to you, postcard size, really nice paper, signed and stamped (stamped! hah) and numbered or something like that. This could be really epic! So many follow up question, will need advise, will post new rant when I've formulated a new direction we could do this together :)

@Beggs - I'll work on this, awesome input!

@tante - Good ideas too. I'll steal some of this input too! :D

@Erik - You will get killed in your sleep, it was discussed at the latest ninja council meeting.

@Qls - Oh, that's a good idea! Make the ninja in a couple of different formats/versions too :)

I have the cardboard ninjas that came with one of the original set of books, forgot which one now!
An official digital version to replace the one I use online would be waaaay better.
Also +1 for a ninja print for my office to go with my "coffee" mug

By Tricky

Also, if this is done then a wallpaper background with them all in so you can see what you could have won :)

By Mr.Madsen

@Tricky - Awesome idea with wallpaper! Adding to the list! (Also, the cardboard ninja is available still.. you know that, right? -> https://www.little-gamers.com/downloads/dyi_ninja_FINAL.pdf)

By Ferdinand

Maybe you can make it so that there are two links, one public to show the world you own that ninja and one private where the owner can find the digital assets.

Ooooooh and you could host it on a server running on electricity from a coal plant so you don't have to do NFTs and we can still hurt the environment :D

By Tricky

@Madsen, not the 3d cut out ninjas. I got a set of little 2D cardboard figures of the ninjas, you and even MC Browneye with one of the books

By Mr.Madsen

@Ferdinand - Yeah, actually, I think the downloadable content will be sent in a mail, the public link has no downloads. It will be hosted in the WiFi.. no power! Right?

@Tricky - Send me an picture, since this I do NOT remember! :)

Just want to say these past days of posts have been some of the best open discussion about the whole NFT thing I've seen on the internet in months.

It's nice when you know the one thinking about it isn't a complete douchebag just trying to get some moolah, especially since it seems every fucking company is trying to "cash in" on this to the point of stupid hexagonal avatars i mean come on

By Tricky

@Madsen a quick collage of these cutouts and the vinyl sticker that has seen better days you have no memory of ever sending.
I blame beer and pr0n

By Fritz

@ Thad, I think it was the "... some of the best open discussion..." part, that triggered the spambot. Might be legit tho, but I am not trying those links. I admit, I am expecting anything in this LG comment section these days.

While the bigger pert of this crypto and nft stuff implodes rather soonish, who wants to be the last one to board the sinking ship?

By Mr.Madsen

@Thad - I agree, feels soo nice when people can talk about things in a decent way :D

... who brought the spam-bots? :(

By Thad

my bad!

maybe if i said "the worst open discussion"?

If anyone want to do a deep dive on the problems with NTFs Folding Ideas has done a great video on it. https://youtu.be/YQ_xWvX1n9g
