It’s not often I update this space, and now when I finally update, I have sad news. Well, sad news for some, other will probably not care the least.

As you all know, I spent quite a few years playing FFXI, and got to know a lot of people whilst doing so, some assholes, but mostly nice and loving people. One of the people who stuck out the most, and who I enjoyed the company of the most, due to his relaxed, funny and “dude, fuck you double two”-attitude was a guy calling himself Gorp (Gavin). He also trolled the LG forums, and was active making comments on this site back in the days.

I stopped playing FFXI and then came back again, and I could always count on gorp being there to make fun of me, but also having fun with me, doing quests and other pointless shit. He was an awesome dude, even tho his taste in music and outfits sucked (come on, who dresses like a death metal guy nowadays?), he totally rocked. I’m saying “was”, since 21st of April, he died. He had diabetes, and went hypoglycaemic in his sleep and passed away during the night.

I got word from his brother Bob that the funeral will be next Tuesday, 17th May 2011, at Moray Crematorium near Elgin in the North of Scotland. The details can be found here. Anyone that can make it to the funeral is very welcome.

So anyone who knew him, IRL or just by the nick Gorp on a screen, I’m sorry to be the one who tells you about this. He was a good friend, actually, I’d say he was an awesome friend, and he will be missed.
