Hugomanen

Windows behaves and functions like a bitch, thus us windows users have no use for the hand held console ^^

pxl
October 7th, 2008 at 10:44 am

I’ve got Ubuntu on the PC, CFW on the PSP and Windows on my mobile phone.

And still, I don’t get it.

I do feel glad I don’t got it. Anyway, tnx Hugomanen for the explanation.

Another fun thing is that it appaerently exist almost 4000 Linux jokes that doesn’t really work

PhoeniXYZ

That was, indeed, funny. Though I needed a moment…

Stijn
October 7th, 2008 at 1:19 pm

For the people who don’t get it:
Linux has this ‘console’ or ‘terminal’ window, in which you can type commands (a text interface as you wish).
The joke is that they use ‘console’ as a gaming device, while the nerd is talking about the linux text-based command line interface.

There you go, you have been educated.

nzbright

Damn my knowledge of linux…

Plater
October 7th, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Wouldn’t “txt”ing on a phone without a full keyboard be a “handheld console” since the effect is roughly the same.

Tak
October 7th, 2008 at 7:11 pm

No Stijn, not real. The joke is about er… well, lets say winusers and/or guys w/ gf’s wont get it.

pxl
October 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pm

October 8th, 2008 at 4:55 pm

so…being ripped off by the big purple couch, why couldnt it have been something badass like…a japanese toy company

Melladh
October 8th, 2008 at 11:53 pm

I got it but more for being a programmer (for the term console output) than by linux usage… And I do realize where the term comes from, but the term programming-wise is used in windows as well ;) I guess I’m showing a lack of nerdiness here, but I can’t remember running a linux dist that referred to the terminal as “console”.
Still. Sweet.

Stijn
October 9th, 2008 at 2:29 pm

@Melladh: there’s a alternative terminal application, called ‘Konsole’ in ubuntu distro’s.
=)

@Doc: I know it’s nerdy, but i can’t really help it. I study Computer Science.
